Scapanorhynchus is an extinct genus of shark that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 100 to 66 million years ago. It is sometimes referred to as the “goblin shark” due to its elongated, flattened snout, which resembles that of the modern-day goblin shark. Scapanorhynchus teeth are among the most recognizable and are often sought after by collectors due to their unique shape and historical significance.
