Paleocarcharodon, an extinct genus of mackerel sharks that lived during the Paleocene epoch, around 65 to 55 million years ago. Paleocarcharodon is notable for its serrated teeth, which resemble those of modern great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias), but with more pronounced and irregular serrations.
These sharks are part of the family Otodontidae, which includes other prehistoric sharks like Otodus. Paleocarcharodon fossils are relatively rare compared to other shark teeth from the same period, making them of particular interest to collectors and paleontologists.
